When news is
boiled down to the tao of profits or what accounts for the explanation of
events in an unprincipled state like Russia, the end result is propaganda.
Money paves the
race to the bottom; a sad loser-strewn skid row is the route to the top.
Does news that’s
regulated by a “fairness doctrine” find any traction?
Or have the
competing sides polluted, drained the merit out of the nonpartisan objective of
news as an objective vehicle in the never-ending quest for a secular truth?
Perhaps Clive
James said it best in his book, “Cultural Amnesia:”
“Truly unprincipled
states never blush.”
